Gambit Road is a single-player chess puzzle game published by Quiet Hours Games ("we", "our"). This policy explains what information the app collects, how it's used, and what choices you have. We've kept it short because the app itself is simple: there's no account, no multiplayer, and no server backend — the only outside service the app talks to is Google's advertising SDK.
Summary
- No account, sign-up, or login exists in the app.
- Your game progress (crests, gold, duel rank, board style, language, puzzle attempts) is stored only on your device and is never transmitted anywhere.
- We don't operate any servers and don't collect or see your data ourselves, in any form.
- The app shows ads via Google AdMob to stay free, which is the only third-party service integrated into the app, and the only source of any data leaving your device.
Information stored on your device
The app saves your progress locally using your device's own storage (Android's AsyncStorage), including:
- Hero name, gold, crests, and cleared puzzle stops
- Duel ladder rank and rating
- Board color style and language preference
- In-progress puzzle/duel attempts, so you can pick up where you left off
None of this ever leaves your device — there's no account to sync it to and no server it's sent to. Uninstalling the app, or using "Reset Everything" in Settings, permanently erases all of it.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app shows banner, interstitial, and rewarded ads through Google AdMob (part of Google's Mobile Ads SDK) to keep the game free. To do this, Google's SDK may collect and process information such as your advertising identifier, general device and app information, approximate location, and ad interaction data, in order to serve and measure ads. This happens under Google's own privacy policy, not ours — see Google's Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services for the full detail of what Google collects and how it's used.
We don't receive or store any of this data ourselves — it's collected directly by Google's SDK running inside the app.
Your consent choices
If you're in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, the app shows a consent form the first time it's opened, asking whether you'd like personalized or non-personalized ads, as required by Google's EU User Consent Policy. You can review or change this choice at any time from Settings → Privacy Options inside the app.
Children's privacy
The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If ads are served to a device known to belong to a child, they're served in a manner consistent with Google's policies for child-directed treatment.
Data security
Because the app doesn't operate a server or account system, there's no central database of player data to be breached — the only copy of your progress lives on your own device, under your own device's normal security.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes — for example, if a future update adds a new service that processes data differently — we'll update this page and revise the date at the top.
